Daniel Fortier is a singer/musician/songwriter with a passion for community art. Daniel has always been immersed in a myriad of art forms growing up with a blues musician father, a performance artist step-mom, a mother with a passion for live music and married an actor turned scholar! Driven by creative curiosity Daniel has worked in arts based community development for most of his adult life and is excited to be part of a dynamic organization like Creative Airdrie.
In his life as a musician Daniel runs a teaching studio(Sing! Play! Write!) in Airdrie and Cochrane working with students to explore songwriting, voice and guitar. He is a founding member of the band WYATT and continues to write, record and tour and has shared the stage with the likes of Kenny Rogers, Rascal Flatts and others! Daniel has also worked on large cultural development projects with the City of Saskatoon/ Saskatchewan Arts Board/ University of Saskatchewan which prepared him to take on the role of Community Developer (term) at the City of Airdrie to develop arts and culture in the City. His role as Community Developer with the City of Airdrie opened his eyes to the incredible wealth of talent, potential and desire for artistic development within our city.
He shares his life with an incredible family which includes his brilliant wife and two kids who constantly remind him how fast time flies when you are having fun.
